Nancy Hansen's art combines lively wit and imagination with disciplined technique. Her technique is a mixture of watercolor, pen & ink, gouache, and digital manipulation in Photoshop. Her images tell stories rooted in fact. Her compositions, with their clearly defined solids and spaces, pay their respects to the Old Masters and challenge the distinction between illustration and fine art. The subject of Nancy’s play, Glory Glory: A Historical Tragedy with Traditional Civil War Songs, is Julia Ward Howe, her writing of the “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” and how it reflects events of the Civil War. The images on the website are available from the artist as prints. Please check back for ordering information, email nansimages [at] cox [dot] net or click the link below.
