Tests show red signage brings in butterflies —
While they wear white for visibility
Who open for the night-shift’s mothy wings.
Helpful arrows drawn with dots and lines
Say, “right this way” in artful show that brings
In agents to do their business. These designs
Combine with sultry scent that turns the head,
Reminding passersby, with perfumed breath,
Of nectar. Or, carrion eating flies are lead
By fragrant smells of rotten flesh and death.
Delivery made, the agent takes a sip —
It’s on the house — and seals the partnership.
