Orchid Pollination I
Over fifty million years ago
The petals of the orchid prototype
To stay competitive, began to grow
Divergent forms, and further underwrite
Technological development
To manufacture seed and renovation
In Pickup & Delivery’s plant-to-plant
Exchange of pollen for genetic variation.
The orchids, being rooted to the ground,
Required conveyances for carriers,
Attracted their attention, waved them down,
Evolved a partnership to make the transfers,
And proved by dressing up in bright disguises,
The fittest is the one who advertises.
